Instructions
Collect voided urine directly into a sterile container after cleansing the genitalia. Use syringe and needle to inject at least 4 mL into a urine culture transport tube. Urines for routine bacterial culture will only be accepted in the 4 mL urine culture transport tubes made by Becton-Dickinson, which we provide.
An exception will be made for small volume collections of less than 4 mL which must be transported refrigerated in a sterile, screw-capped container.
Volumes of less than 4 mL should not be transported in the gray-top tubes.
