Clinical Significance

Magnesium is used industrially to manufacture precision instruments and refractory materials. It can also be found in flash bulbs, flares, and signal lights. Industrial exposure in usually manifested as metal fume fever, due to inhalation of dust; symptoms of this include conjunctivitis and discolored sputum.
