Clinical Significance
Staining for Ki-67 can be used to aid in the assessing the proliferative activity of normal and neoplastic tissue. Ki-67 is a proliferation marker that correlates with flow cytometric S-phase. Various published studies have suggested that overexpression of Ki-67 in breast cancer may be an unfavorable prognostic indicator. For other type of tumors, definitive interpretive criteria for Ki-67 expression may vary.
