Clinical Significance
The CCD/Profilin IgE cross-reactivity panel can be used by clinicians interested in understanding why a patient with IgE to whole peanut and/or tree nut is not allergic to these foods. CCD and Profilin-specific IgE, while highly cross-reactive with whole nuts, is not associated with a true allergy to them. The CCD/profilin IgE cross-reactivity panel may also be ordered by clinicians for follow up testing if a patient?s peanut and/or tree nut IgE component panel results are completely negative.
