Clinical Significance
CK14, a marker of squamous and basal epithelial
phenotype, is most frequently used along with CK5/6 and
P63 to demonstrate the basal subset of breast carcinoma.
CK14 expression is also characteristic of oncocytic
tumors at various tissue sites and can be used to
differentiate these tumors from other epithelioid
neoplasms, such as conventional renal cell carcinoma.
