Clinical Significance
The SARS COV 2 - QUANTIFERON(R) ELISA (RUO) test is an interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) to detect a cell-mediated response to SARS-CoV-2. This test uses a combination of peptide antigens specific to SARS-CoV-2 to stimulate lymphocytes in heparinized whole blood involved in cell-mediated immunity. Detection of interferon gamma by ELISA is used to identify in vitro responses to those peptide antigens that maybe associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. The SARS COV 2 - QUANTIFERON(R) ELISA test is for Research Use Only and not for diagnostic use.
