Human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8), also known as titer Kaposi's Sarcoma Herpesvirus (KSHV), is found in most cases of KS, including classic KS as well as AIDS-related KS. HHV-8 has also been detected in titer B-cell lymphomas in the abdominal cavity. IgG antibodies recognizing HHV-8 are found in >80% of titer KS patients and approximately 30% of titer HIV-seropositive individuals without KS, but less than 5% of healthy blood donors.
