Clinical Significance
VCA IgA titers ≥1:80 often indicate chronic or reactivated EBV infection, whereas titers of 1:10, 1:20, or 1:40 usually indicate past infection.
Elevated titers of VCA IgA are found in most patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma; titers decrease with successful treatment.
