1 mL serum collected in a red-top tube (no gel)


Patient Preparation
Fasting Required (overnight fast). No alcohol consumption for 24 hours prior to draw. For pediatric patients, fasting is not required, but sample collection should occur prior to the next meal or scheduled feeding.

0.2 mL

Clinical Significance
Comprehensive Fatty Acids (C8-C26), to evaluate patients for certain mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation defects, peroxisomal defects, and/or a full nutritional assessment. It can also be used to monitor patients receiving a special diet and/or fatty acid supplementation.
