Clinical Significance
Sesame component testing may help manage patients with suspected sesame allergy. IgE antibody against Ses i 1 (f449) is highly predictive of a positive oral food challenge. Also, because it is resistant to digestive enzymes, sensitization to Ses i 1 may increase the risk of severe reactions after ingestion of sesame products.
