Reference Range
| Gly m 4 (f353) IgE | <0.10 kU/L |
| Gly m 5 (f431) IgE | <0.10 kU/L |
| Gly m 6 (f432) IgE | <0.10 kU/L |
Clinical Significance
Soy component testing may help manage patients with suspected soy allergy. IgE antibody against Gly m 4 may be due to cross-reactivity with Birch pollen (t3) but can still cause mild (mostly oral mucosal) symptoms after ingestion of soy products. Sensitization to Gly m 5 and/or Gly m 6 is more likely to represent true soy allergy and is also associated with more severe systemic reactions.
