Instructions
Type and Screen is ordered to facilitate rapid preparation of blood products. Therefore, the special blood bank identification procedure required for blood products applies to requests for type and screen.
Report Available
Routine results are available in less than 4 hours. For STAT expected turn around time, please see hospital specific lab information on the Banner Intranet. Type and screen testing requires at least 45 to 60 minutes from the time the specimen is received in the Blood Bank. A positive antibody screen will require additional testing and additional time.
Reference Range
Clinical Significance
Although not a critical value, a positive Antibody Screen indicates an extended turn around time for crossmatched products.
