Preferred Specimen
Vaginal discharge collected using sterile vaginal swab submitted in ROM collection kit vial.
Instructions
Obtain Amnisure ROM kit from the laboratory.
1. Collect the sample from the vaginal surface while the patient is lying flat on her back. Insert the tip of the swab into the vagina no more than 2-3 inches deep.
2. Withdraw the swab from the vagina after 15 seconds.
3. Place the swab into the solvent vial and rinse the swab by rotating for 15 seconds.
4. Break swab off at scored mark, leaving swab tip in the vial and disposing of remaining portion of swab stick.
