Instructions
Collect OP or NP swab specimen according to standard technique. Do not let the swab touch any other surface. Immediately place the swab specimen into a 3 mL BD UVT (Universal Viral Transport) Tube.

Collection of Nares/Saline:
- Insert the tip of a polyester swab 1-2 cm into the anterior nares.
- Rotate swab against nasal mucosa for 15 rotations and withdraw.
- Repeat with the other anterior nare using the same swab.
- Do not let the swab touch any other surface before placing it into the saline tube.
- Remove the cap from the saline tube.
- Insert swab into the saline tube.
- Carefully leverage the swab against the inside of the tube rim.
- Bend swab against rim until it breaks off.
- Place lid back on tube and close tightly.
