Clinical Significance
Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common sexually transmitted bacterial infection. Up to 70% of women and 30% of men may be asymptomatic. Infection may lead to tubal pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility. Other organs may also become affected.
