If protein, nitrite, leukocytes, blood is chemically positive or if urine appearance is other than clear, a microscopic urinalysis is performed. If nitrites are positive, a urine culture is performed.


Preferred Specimen
12 mL urine submitted in a sterile plastic leakproof container


Instructions
Collect a freshly voided, clean-catch, mid-stream urine specimen.

Frozen: Not recommended
