Clinical Significance
Theophylline is a drug used in the treatment of asthma. Theophylline is an effective bronchodilator. Theophylline measurements are used to monitor patient compliance and therapy and to diagnose potential overdose. Toxic effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, tachycardia, arrhythmias, and convulsions.
