Instructions

Must be drawn with a 21-gauge or larger needle.
Drawn at YH only and sent to PRH

The specimen needs to be in the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Laboratory within 2 hours from the time of draw.

Obtain collection kit from the Laboratory.

Refrigerated: Unacceptable
Frozen: Unacceptable

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)

Any tube other than the Blue Vacuette tube.
Hematocrit < 33% or > 52%
Platelet Count < 119 or > 502 K/uL
Specimen not held at room temperature

Therapeutic - Higher % inhibition associated with expected antiplatelet effect
Presurgical - <20% inhibition

Clinical Significance

This test measures the amount of platelet inhibition present due to P2Y12 inhibitors.
