Routine evaluation to rule out malignancy. Also available is corresponding fluid CEA and Amylase testing via send out to Interpace Diagnostics in Pittsburgh, PA. See collection instructions below. Combined Cytology and Interpace report are used to determine further Molecular Testing (PancraGen). PancraGen tests for KRAS Point Mutation as well as loss of heterozygosity panels.
Preferred Specimen
If only Cytology is requested, cyst fluid can be dispensed into Cytolyt tube provided by the Cytology Laboratory. For CEA/Amylase +/- Molecular testing, obtain collection kit directly from Interpace Diagnostics prior to procedure.
Minimum Volume
Instructions
Collection for CEA and/or Amylase Testing WITH CYTOLOGY:
- Obtain Interpace submission kit.
- Control sample is obtained by using the “Cyto-Pak Cytosoft Brush” to swab the inside of the patient’s cheek (buccal swab).
- Submit 0.25cc cyst fluid in clear 2ml tube(s) included in the kit.
- Any additional fluid is then expressed out of the needle into the Cytolyt tube.
- Interpace requisition completed by GI and demographic face sheet submitted.
- Cytology Lab requisition #151594 is also completed.
- Labels MUST be affixed to the buccal swab, 2ml tube(s) and the Cytolyt tube. Unlabeled tubes will be rejected.
- All tubes and requisitions are packaged inside the bag and delivered immediately to Cytology Lab in Ziskind 530.
