Instructions
For a 24 hour urine all of the urine is collected for a 24-hour period. The sample to be refrigerated during this time period.
There should be no preservative in the container.  24 hour urine collection not indicated for most patients, spot urine albumin recommended.

Specimen should be analyzed immediately

This assay is performed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week


Reference Range
The result is reported as the amount of albumin excreted per day.
0 - 30 mg Albumin/gram Creatinine
30 - 300 mg Albumin/gram Creatinine (Microalbuminuria)
> 300 mg Albumin/gram Creatinine (Clinical albuminuria)


Clinical Significance
Measurement of albumin in urine aids in the diagnosis of kidney dysfunction and is recommended by the American Diabetes Association to screen for microalbuminuria.
