Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Gross hemolysis • Gross lipemia • Bacterially contaminated specimens
Methodology
Chemiluminescent immunoassay, performed on the Liaison XL
Setup Schedule
This assay is performed at least twice per week.
Limitations
Test indicates past exposure, not presence of active infection with circulating virus. Specimens taken early during the acute phase of infection may not contain detectable levels of IgG antibodies.
Reference Range
Negative. A negative test result means that IgG antibodies to Rubella virus are either not detected or below the 10 IU/mL cutoff.
Clinical Significance
This assay is used for the qualitative determination of IgG antibodies to rubella virus in human serum specimens. It is intended for use as an aid in the determination of immune status to rubella.
