2.7 mL.  Sample MUST be drawn to minimum fill line on tube or the sample will be rejected as QNS.


Instructions
To prevent QNS sample draws:  If the sodium citrate tube is the only sample to be collected with a butterfly collection device,  draw a discard tube first OR
collect after drawing other samples.

Light Blue Top (Sodium Citrate), 1.8 mL draw tube or 2.7 mL draw tube

1 hour for monitoring heparin therapy

Limitations


No interferences up to 500 mg/dL of hemoglobin, 1000 mg/dL triglycerides, and 26 mg/dL of bilirubin.
Results may be affected by many commonly administered drugs. Further studies should be made to determine the source of unexpected abnormal results.

Clinical Significance
Detection of coagulation factor deficiency (ies)  in intrinsic and/or common pathways (congenital, aquired or liver disease),  presence of inhibitor, and monitor unfractionated heparin therapy.
