Culture, Deep Wound
MessageIndicate location/source of wound on requisition. Be specific. Swabs are the LEAST desirable specimen type for wound cultures. If swabs must be used, send two: one for the culture and a separate one for the Gram Stain. Specimens from same site accepted every 72 hours (3 days). Consult with lab for exceptions.
Anaerobic culure is not automatically performed, please add to requisition if anaerobic culture is needed. (anaerobe culture will NOT be performed on aerobic culture swab. These specimens will be plated to an anaerobic broth screen ONLY)
