Methodology
Chemiluminescent Immunoassay on the Diasorin Liaison XL
Setup Schedule
This assay is performed at least 2 times a week.
Reference Range
Results are reported as Negative, Equivocal, or Positive.
Clinical Significance
This test is used to detect IgG antibody immunoreactive for H. pylori. A positive serologic test does not confirm active infection. Instead, it indicates the presence of antibodies to H. pylori or a cross-reactive microorganism. A positive test result indicates the possibility of past or present exposure to H. pylori or a microorganism with cross-reacting proteins.
A negative result generally indicates that the patient has not been previously exposed to H. pylori but does not rule out recent (acute) H. pylori infection. Performed on the Liaison XL by indirect chemiluminescence immunoassay.
