Use only for rule out of true mold or slow growing yeast (Candida will be recovered in routine bacterial culture)
Indicate on requisition and call the laboratory if high suspicion of Histoplasma, Coccidioides, or Blastomyces.
For keratinous material (e.g. finger or toe nails), order KOH prep (CPT 87210)
Separate test codes exist for Fungus Culture, Skin and Fungus Culture, Blood.
