Chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA).  Performed on the Liaison XL

Setup Schedule
This assay is performed at least twice per week.


Limitations
Test indicates past exposure, not presence of active infection with circulating virus.  Specimens taken early during the acute phase of infection may not contain detectable levels of IgG antibodies


Reference Range
Results are reported as Negative or Positive.


Clinical Significance
This test is used to detect IgG antibody to viral capsid antigen of Epstein-Barr virus.
