Preferred Specimen
Aspirated abscess fluid.


Instructions
Aspirate open abscess or closed abscess wall material with needle and syringe.
If aspiration not possible, pass swab deep into lesion and firmly sample advancing edge of lesion.


Transport Container
Sterile tube or cup with screw-cap.
Syringe with needle removed and Luer-Lok attached.
