Includes
If larger tissue fragments or high cellularity permits, a cell block will be prepared.  Special/immunocytochemical staining is dependent on cellularity of the specimen.


Preferred Specimen

Brush head submerged in Cytolyt fluid (provided by Cytology Lab).
 

  1. Bile Duct
  2. Bronchus
  3. Esophagus
  4. Oral Cavity


Instructions

Brushings from any body site should be submitted in Cytolyt fluid.  Surgical brush head should be submerged in fixative and submitted in the  container.  Multiple brushes from the same brush site can be submitted in the same container.  If a separate site is brushed (and therefore a separate interpretation is desired), a separate container labeled with the specific site should be submitted.
 




Transport Container
 Cytolyt tubes are supplied by the Cytology Laboratory on Ziskind 5.


Transport Temperature
Room temperature.  Refrigeration is acceptable.


Setup Schedule
Daily, Monday through Friday.
