Preferred Specimen
Skin biopsy specimen collected at FULL thickness.
1 - 2 cm diameter section of cord, villi, or fetal part from products of conception (POC).

Full thickness 6 mm skin punch.

Specimen material collected from fetus (cord, villi).
Instructions
Specimen must be kept moist in sterile preservative free saline or sterile tissue transport media.
Keep specimen at room temperature.
If cells are to be sent out for testing, enclose all paperwork required by the outside testing lab.

Specimen Stability
Specimen should be received in the laboratory as soon as possible from collection.
Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Any tissue that has been exposed to formalin or any fixative will not grow and must be rejected.
