Instructions
Skin biopsy specimen must be FULL thickness.
Call the Cytogenetics laboratory for specimen pick up.
Specimens may be delivered to the Main laboratory.

Transport Container
Skin biopsy specimens must be kept moist in sterile tissue culture medium or preservative free saline.
Transport Temperature
Room temperature.
Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Any tissue that has been exposed to formalin or any fixative will not grow and must be rejected.
Any tissue that has been frozen without cryopreservative will not grow and must be rejected.
Any tissue received over 3 days from collection will be rejected.
