2 - 8 oC: 7 days
Methodology
Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay
Setup Schedule
This assay is performed Monday through Friday
Reference Range
Non-Reactive
Clinical Significance
Positive results require further action, consisting of performing a non-treponemal test (eg, RPR). If the non-trponemal test is reactive, one can infer that the patient has a genuine unresolved syphilis infection. If the non-trponemal test is non-reactive, an additional treponemal test is required (eg, TP-PA). The Tufts computer system will automatically reflex an RPR test to be done and it will append a statement to all reactive trponemal antibody tests to aid in interpretation.
