Includes
Biopsy from any anatomic location except renal core biopsy, bone marrow biopsy and any tissue for Electron Microscopy (EM) or Immunofluoresence (IF).
Instructions
Small biopsy specimens should be immediately submerged in 10% neutral buffered formalin. In addition to patient identification labeling (see lab policy), each container submitted must have the biopsy site written on the label with corresponding information listed on the requisition.
Specimens can be transported directly to Ziskind 5 specimen intake window for most efficient processing.
RUSH specimens must be clearly designated as such on the requisition and must be delivered directly to Ziskind 5. For weekend or after hours RUSH specimens, the Anatomic Pathology resident on call should be notiifed at pager 1420.

Setup Schedule
Daily (Monday through Friday) processing followed by evaluation by attending surgical pathologist. See Instructions for RUSH samples.
Report Available
Expected turnaround: 90% available within two working days from receipt into the lab. Complicated cases requiring extensive work up including special stains will require addtiional time.
