1. Submit 1 to 2-inch distal segment of catheter by aseptically clipping off end of catheter directly into asterile leakproof container at time catheter is removed.

Methodology
Conventional Culture with Quantitation

Reference Range
Negative.   >15 colony forming units of a pathogenic organism will be identified when detected.


Clinical Significance
Useful for the identification of suspected aerobic pathogens. Specify type of catheter. Foley Catheters not acceptable.
