Clinical Significance
Phenytoin is used as an anticonvulsant for the treament in patients with grand mal epilepsy, cortical focal seizures, and temporal lobe epilepsy.  Phenytoin levela are monitored to assure adequate therapeutic levels are achieved to avoid toxicity.
