Clotted blood is not acceptable


Methodology
Modified Wrights-Giemsa Stained peripheral blood smear, 100 WBCs counted, includes cellular morphology, if present, as well as PLT estimate.

Reference Range
MANUAL DIFFERENTIAL- Lymphocytes: 24-44%; Monocytes: 2-11%; Neutrophil SEGS: 31-76%; Neutrophil BANDS: 2-6%; Atypical Lymphs: 0-5%; Eosinophils: 1-4%; Basophils: 0-1%, ABSOLUTE LYMPHS: 1.0-4.8 K/UL; ABSOLUTE NEUTROPHILS: 1.8-7.7 K/UL; ABSOLUTE MONOCYTES: 0.1-0.5 K/UL; ABSOLUTE EOSINOPHILS: 0.1-0.7 K/UL; ABSOLUTE BASOPHILS 0.0-0.2 K/UL.


Clinical Significance
To differentiate the types of White Blood Cells in a patient sample when automatic differential criteria acceptability are exceeded or not available.
