Clinical Significance
Infection with Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is among the most ubiquitous of human infections. Hsv infects neonates ,children and adults and the virus is spread by direct contact with virus in secretions for etiher symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. Nucleic acid amplification test for the detection of HSV DNA have been reported to be more sensitive and rapid than virus culture and antigen detection methods.
