Instructions
Draw a full, light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube. Invert tube several times to mix blood. Avoid hemolysis. Note: Unspun specimen is stable for 2 hours at ambient temperature and 4 hours refrigerated.

Centrifuged samples are stable for 4 hours at room temperature.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Clotted blood is not acceptable.

150.0-350.0 seconds


Clinical Significance
Useful for detecting increased or decreased fibrinogen concentration of acquired or congenital origin. Also for monitoring the severity and treatment of disseminated intravascular coagulation and fibrinolysis.
