MessageIf culture is positive, identification and antimicrobial susceptibility will be performed at an additional charge. For diagnostic purposes, clinical specimens should be collected before the initiation of therapy since even a few days of treatment may render the culture negative. Instructions
Submit one of the following specimens: Nasopharyngeal Aspirate 1. Collect an aspirate specimen (1.0-2.0 mL) using a sterile technique. Nasopharyngeal Swab 1. Collect specimen using a sterile swab by inserting swab into posterior nasopharynx through nostril. 2. Rotate swab slowly in nasopharynx for 5 seconds. Note: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
