Instructions
Submit one of the following specimens: Aspirate  1. Collect nasal wash, (1.0-20. mL) using a sterile technique. Place aspirate in a screw-capped, sterile container. 2. Tracheal aspirates are also acceptable.  3. Swab Collect specimen using a sterile swab by inserting swab into posterior nasopharynx through nostril. Rotate swab slowly in nasopharynx for 5 seconds. Place swab in a scre-capped sterile container. 4. Wash Aseptically collect 1.0 mL of nasopharyngeal wash.  Place wash in a screw-capped, sterile containter.5. Label container with patient's full name, date of birth, date, time of collection, and specimen type. Note: Specimen source is required on request form for processing.
