Specimen must arrive within 4 hours of draw. Draw a full tube. Invert several times to mix blood. Avoid hemolysis


Transport Container
Light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube.


Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Clotted blood is not acceptable.

Reference Range
Normal: due to lot to lot variation, call lab for current reference range


Clinical Significance
Useful for heparin monitoring and the discovery of coagulation abnormalities.
