SRHC Clients:
FULL TUBE REQUIRED.  Correct anticoagulant to blood ratio is crucial for accurate results.
Heparanized Patients: Transport to SRH in less than 4 hours room temperature.
Non-heparanized patients:  Transport to SRH in less than 12 hours room temperature.

Coagulation work cannot be collected from arterial lines, unless specifically instructed to do so the by the physician. If so instructed, document this on the requisition or the labeled sample.

Draw from the opposite arm on a patient that is receiving a heparin drip. If it is absolutely necessary to draw the sample from the same arm(area) as the drip, the fluids must be turned off for 15 minutes prior to venipuncture.  Please document on the request or labeled sample.
