Instructions
Specimen Collection Procedure:
1. Collect specimen from perianal region or rectum. Best time for collection is early in the morning before bathing or bowel movement.
2. Use a piece of clear tape about 4 inches long for collection.(Do not use magic tape--only clear transparent tape)
3. Fold tape so sticky side is to the outside.
4. Separate buttocks and apply the tape to the anal area, rocking back and forth to cover as much of the area as possible
5. Remove the tap and apply to a microscope slide, sticky side down. Press and smooth firmly into position on the length of slide.
6. Put slide in an envelope or slide container and label with patient name and another patient identifier and the date and time of collection

Clear tape on glass slide submitted in envelope or slide container. Collected per instructions.
Specimen Stability
Room Temp: 24 hours
Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Specimens on frosted tape.
Improperly labeled specimens.
