Note special collection and transport requirements due to specimen stability.
Outreach/Outpatients:
- 1 lime green top(preferred) - place on ice and transport immediately following collection as sample MUST be received in laboratory within 20 minutes of collection for testing
- If immediate transport is delayed or not possible: centrifuge sample, remove and refrigerate plasma immediately (within 20 minutes of collection). Transport to SRHC refrigerated in a transport tube marked "plasma". Transport with a frozen gel pack. Sample stable for 2 hours refrigerated.
Inpatients:
- 1 lime green top(preferred) - place on ice and transport to lab immediately as sample MUST be received in laboratory within 20 minutes of collection for testing
