Fresh liquid or soft stool in clean or sterile specimen container
Formed stools will not be tested


Transport Container
0.5 - 1 gram diarrheal stool in clean container


Transport Temperature
Room Temperature or Refrigerated--do not expose to excessive heat or freezing.
REFRIGERATED PREFERRED.

Reject Criteria (Eg, hemolysis? Lipemia? Thaw/Other?)
Formed Stools
Collection on swabs or in diapers.
Specimens in formalin, PVA, Para-Pak C&S
Specimens contaminated with barium.
Lumen contents adn duodenal aspirates/washes/biopsies are not accepted.
Frozen specimen.
Specimen exceeding stability limits.
