MessageSRHC Clients:
FOR COMPLETE PROCEDURE SEE INSTRUCTION SECTION BELOW:
NOTES:
Bottles available from SRH Lab-Bacteriology
Collect aseptically according to instructions.
Skin preparation and adequate volumes directly influence the results.
Best practice is to draw 2 to 3 blood culture sets from separate sites before starting antimicrobial therapy.
Drawing blood at specified intervals is only indicated when it is necessary to document continuous bacteremia in patients with suspected endocarditis.
Draw blood immediately prior to next dose if patient is on antibiotic therapy.

1 anaerobic bottle(purple top) BacT/ALERT SN 10 mls
NEONATES/INFANTS 1 pediatric bottle(yellow top) BacT/ALERT PF 4 mls

Instructions

11.Connect the adapter cap to the luer connector of a butterfly set.
12. Perform venipunture. When the needle is in the vein, secure it with tape or hold in place.
