Preferred Specimen
1 lime green tube
Instructions
1. Clean the venipuncture site with Betadine. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL TO PREP THE SITE.
2. Allow the Betadine to dry.
3. Perform the venipuncture per routine procedure and obtain the proper tube of blood.
4. Label the tube with 2 patient identifiers(name and dob) at a minimum.
5. Document ACB(arm cleaned with betadine) on the tube or requisition.
6. Send blood to lab for testing in defined time frames.
7. No chain of custody observed.
