Comprehensive Hematopathology Report is structured to allow the lab to perform additional testing at an additional charge if deemed medically necessary for proper evaluation by the reviewing pathologist.

Preferred Specimen

Fixed bone marrow core biopsy or bone aspirate smear or peripheral blood smears

Minimum Volume

1 mL bone marrow in a sodium heparin (green-top) • 0.5 mL bone marrow in an EDTA (lavender-top)

Other Acceptable Specimens

Formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue submitted in an IHC specimen transport kit

Instructions

3 mL bone marrow submitted in a sodium heparin (green-top) or 1.5 mL bone marrow submitted in an EDTA (lavender-top) or clot biopsy

Required information: Patient history and any other relevant information; CBC results; peripheral blood smear; name, telephone number and fax number of referring physician.
