Clinical Significance
Approximately 65% of mantle cell lymphomas (MCL) are characterized by a t (11; 14) (q13; Q32) gene translocation that causes deregulation of the expression of the BCL-1 gene. This abnormality in turn leads to deregulation of Cyclin D1. Detection of Cyclin D1 is useful in detecting disease.
