Clinical Significance
Chromosome analysis can be used to help determine genetic causes of intellectual disability, developmental delay, congenital anomalies, infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth, and ambiguous genitalia. Chromosome analysis does not rule out cryptic or submicroscopic chromosome abnormalities. If this analysis is normal, microarray will be performed for the detection of submicroscopic deletions and duplications and long continuous regions of homozygosity.
