Transport Temperature
Lab Only: It is recommended that tubes of blood are to be kept closed at all times and in a vertical position. It is required that the serum or plasma be physically separated from contact with cells within two hours from the time of collection. Analyze fresh specimens, if possible. Separated samples are stable for 7 days at 20 to 25°C, at 2 to 8°C for up to 7 days, or frozen at -20°C for 8 months. Stored specimens must be inspected for particulates. If present, mix and centrifuge the specimen to remove particulates prior to testing. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles should be avoided to minimize potential protein degradation.
